Exercise and Asthma

So it’s been a week since I have been exercising again. It feels good. I couldn’t tell you if I lost any weight. I don’t weigh myself, maybe I should. But it seems such a girlish thing to do.

I’ve been working out everyday at work. During my lunch break I go lift for a while and ride or run. I’m lucky in the that my building has a small exercise room in the basement (more like a closet) and right across from my office is a shower. So as long as I can keep up this schedule, I do fine. I know my pants feel a little bit lose.

I haven’t had any chest pains since exercising. That has always been a problem. The Asthma causes chest pains while exercising. It’s like a sharp pain at the bottom of my lungs. A few months ago the doctor put me back on Singair and that is really helping. I don’t know when I developed Asthma or if I always had it. I believe I always had it because I can always remember a hacking cough in the morning, but never weezing. The submarines I’m sure didn’t help it. The air on a submarine is very pure (recycled farts as we always say) therefore I think the submariner becomes hypersensitive to allergens when exposed to them.

Rambles

The girls had the week off from school last week. They went to camp at Crandall field, all except for Jaiden who stayed with her daycare. Yesterday we took the kids to the gym on base to exercise. It was really nice, the kids enjoyed themselves. We have to build a routine of fitness in them, I have never had that and I am always paying for it.

Basketball is almost over for the girls. Their last game in on the 1st, with the pizza party and photos. After that I think I am going to sign the girls up for swimming lessons on the base. They offer classes every saturday morning.

I was surprised yesterday. The Associated Content home page had me playing my banjo and explaining some basic banjo chords on it. Hopefully that will produce a bunch of people reading and viewing my stuff.

Weight Loss

Man, the battle of the bulge is hard. I have always battled my weight. I just hate working out. It has never been fun for me. However, if I can do it during lunch, it will break my work day up. Let’s face it, work is worse than working out any day.

I just found out that my building has a small gym down stairs. I worked out today. I signed up a long time ago at www.presidentschallenge.org. It’s not a bad web site, you log in you exercise for awards. Groups can sign up and compete against other groups. I just want to keep a record of my exercise.

I am going to keep writing about my progress. I do want to beat that Jared guy (Subway) up though.

The world is coming to an end

Well I have decided that the end is near. The apocalypse is amongst us and civilization will cease as we know it.

I like to write on Associated Content and post videos there. I don't get a lot of hits, but I get some. I know the topics I write about are not interesting to most people. Most people are not interested in history, teaching styles, guitar and banjo, and so on. I know I'm a bore.

Well two days ago AC had a call for content for various subjects. They do this all the time asking for people to research and write about a specific topics. I saw that they had one about Gary Coleman (Different Strokes fame) getting married. I said “I’ll write about that, it’s easy and will not take long; after all there was only one website and two blogs that even wrote about it.” Well while the rest of my articles received 5-10 hits, this article I wrote received 500 hits in 2 days! Amazing, just goes to show you that you never know what people will be interested in.

A better way?

There has to be a better way than going to work every day and being tied down to a cubicle! I have to figure out how to work solely on-line, whether it is teaching, writing or editing. It is difficult being tied to one space all the time.

I have grown tired of New England. I guess I go through this every winter. However, there is a lot of building going on in my neighborhood that is driving me away. There is actually a movie studio being built a few miles from my house! This movie studio is going to have a 150 room hotel. There are training centers and conference buildings being built, along with a Target and Lowes. All this building and I don't even have city water available! Society is closing in on me.

If anyone has been successful writing or doing something on-line, please contact me.

New Blogs

I am so into blogging now. It really allows me an outlet for any creative gene I have. It actually feels like I'm in control of my actions and my words. That is a first for me. After 20 years in the military, every report I made has a standard verbiage (to avoid confusion). Every report or instruction I ever wrote coming back with one word changed so an Ensign can justify for reason for existing. It is nice to know I can write something and I am responsible for it.

I enjoy it so much that I have started two new blogs that are concentrated on music. It has videos of me playing guitar and banjo and articles I have written about music.

Huh, I wouldn't mind taking a few students through video conferencing. Let me know if you know anyone that is interested.

More Basketball

It was Basketball Sunday this weekend. Anna's team won, Hailee's team lost. They are in the finals now. I'm not sure what they are going to play next season. Hailee voiced interest in Soccer, Anna in Baseball.
I haven’t been writing a lot recently. I’m having trouble making through this Statistical Analysis course. I haven’t taken statistics in about 15 years so many of the concepts are new to me. The text doesn’t explain how to SPSS that well either. I had to go out and get a bunch of extra Statistics books to try to make it through. I was reading an article on CNN which stated that the more educated a person is, the unhappier he is. Goes to prove that old saying that ignorance is bliss.

Stuff

The girls had thier basketball games last Sunday. Hailee's team lost. Anna's team won. All of the girls are getting more aggresive and comfortable playing team sports. I'm happy about that, they are socializing more and they are not afraid.

Too bad about the PATS and my prediction. It was a great superbowl game. Either way the game went, we witnessed history. If the PATs won it would have been 19-0, however, the Giants was the best underdog upset ever. WOW. It just seemed to me that the PATS were not playing like they did a month or so earlier. The Giants defense were just awesome.

I can't figure out the election stuff. Why is Hillary Clinton even being considered? For the last 20 years in our countries history, we have been run by two families; Bush and Clinton. Why would we want another Clinton in office if we want change? It would be another term of the same garbarge, just Clinton style. The Military was a world police force under the Clinton administration. We were on more deployments than any other time (Bosnia, Haiti, Somalia, Iraq). Doesn't anyone remember this? Are we just forgetful because of the current occupation in Iraq? If we want change, elect someone with financial responsibility that will positivly change our image throughout the world.

Superbowl

No one wants to bet with me at work, something about me watching too much Sopranos.

My call for the superbowl is PATS -28 Giants- 14

Funny because its so true

I heard this on the radio and thought I should share it:

"A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (General Motors) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River. Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race. On the big day, the Japanese team won by a mile. The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action. Their conclusion was the Japanese team had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person rowing. So American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion. They advised that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing. To prevent another loss to the Japanese, the Americans' rowing team's management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager. They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the "Rowing Team Quality First Program," with meetings, dinners and free pens for the rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses. The next year the Japanese won by two miles. Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance, halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's racing team was outsourced to India!!!! "
